Our Story
Our Beginning
Ngalava Yanga — meaning "My Ark" — was born out of a simple but urgent need. Children in the Greater Tzaneen area needed a safe place to go after school. A place where they could eat, do their homework, and spend their weekends in structured, meaningful activities — away from the streets and away from harm.
We became that place.
For over a decade, Ngalava Yanga has fed children, supported their education, and provided a community of care for some of Limpopo's most vulnerable families. Hundreds of children have passed through our doors. Every one of them matters.
Our Next Chapter
In 2024, Ngalava Yanga received QCTO accreditation to offer ECD Practitioner training — a nationally recognised qualification that equips women from our communities to become professional early childhood development practitioners.
This is how we multiply our impact. One trained practitioner can shape the lives of dozens of children every year. We are not just caring for today's children — we are building the workforce that will care for tomorrow's.
Our Values
We believe every child deserves safety, nutrition, and education regardless of their circumstances. We believe women are the backbone of community development. We believe that professional qualifications change lives — and that access to those qualifications should not depend on geography or income.
Ngalava Yanga is registered as a Public Benefit Organisation. We are accountable to our community, our beneficiaries, and our mission.
